What We Believe

at Sunset Bay Chapel

The Scripture

We believe in the scriptures of the Old Testament and the New Testament as being verbally and completely inerrant in the original writings and of supreme and final authority in faith and life.            2 Tim. 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21

One God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1, Isaiah 43:10-12

The Virgin Birth

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary and is true God and true man.  John 1:1-3, Matthew 1:23

The Role of the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father as promised to convict the world of sin, to glorify Jesus and transform the lives of believers into the likeness of Christ. 1 Corinthians 6,12,14,                1 Corinthians 1:7

The State of Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby not only incurred physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature.  Genesis 3, John 3:17

The Substitutionary Atonement of Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures as a representative and subsitutionary sacrifice and that all who believe in him are redeemed and justified on the ground of His shed blood. 1 Peter 1:18-19

Resurrection of the Lord

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, His ascension into heaven and His present life for us as High Priest and advocate. John 3:36,John 5:28-29

The Blessed Hope

We believe in *The Blessed Hope* * the Second Coming of Christ. John 14:1-3, Acts 1:11

Belief and Faith

We believe that all who receive, by faith, the Lord Jesus Christ, are born of the Holy Spirit and thereby the children of God, a relationship in which they are eternally secure. John 3:3,16

The Reality of Heaven & Hell

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the *unjust*, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost, along with Satan and other fallen angels.  Genesis 1

The Church

We believe that the church is a spiritual organism made up of all believers in Christ and on earth and is an autonomous assembly. Hebrews 10:24-25, Acts 2:42-47

The Sacraments

We believe in the sacraments of the Lord*s Supper and Baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, Matthew 26:26-28*
